Creating a Theme Screenshot

It’s been a while since I’ve written a “Quick Tip” but this one I just had to share (because it’s so useful if you’re a theme developer).

One thing I’ve often struggled with is taking a screenshot of new themes (my macbook pro’s screen and screengrab I often struggle with to get the correct dimensions) then cropping and re-sizing becomes a pain.

I found a new and easy way to create screen shots. The dimensions of theme screenshots are 880×660 and you can use the following URL to create a browser screenshot.

http://s.wordpress.com/mshots/v1/[your-url]?w=880&h=660

Making sure to replace [your-url] with your URL (just in case the above isn’t obvious), for example

http://s.wordpress.com/mshots/v1/http://everclients.com?w=880&h=660

Will give you the following screenshot
